Who Is Maa Kalratri- Day 7 Navratri Goddess?
Deity Kalratri is the terrifying yet kind-hearted, seventh form of goddess Durga that destroys demons and negative forces. Devotees of the deity Durga worship Mata Kalratri on the seventh day of Shardiya Navratri. She symbolizes the dispelling of darkness, evil, and fear. Yet, she’s deeply compassionate toward her devotees—clearing fear, destroying evil, and bringing inner courage. She is shown appearing dark blue with four hands holding sword and throne-like weapon in her two left hands. Her two hands are in the Abhaya mudra (blessing) and Varada mudra (protecting/giving) gestures. Her appearance includes dark complexion, three eyes, long flowing hair mounted on a donkey.
Mata Kalratri emerged from the forehead goddess Chandi, who was instructed by the goddess Parvati to kill demons. Later, Deity Kalratri killed Shumbha, Nishumbha, Chanda, Munda, and Raktabeeja to save the gods. She represents good over evil, light in darkness, and gives courage and protection to their devotees.
